  3. 2 tsp. baking soda

  4. 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  5. 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

  6. 1/2 tsp. salt

  7. 1/4 tsp. ground cloves

  8. 2 eggs

  9. 2 c. sugar

  10. 1 c. Hellmann's or Best Foods Real

  11. Mayonnaise

  12. 1/3 c. milk

  13. 3 c. coarsely chopped apples

  14. 1 c. raisins

  15. 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

  1. Grease and flour a 12-cup fluted tube pan. In a medium bowl, combineflour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and cloves.

  2. In a large bowl with mixer at high speed, beat together eggs and sugar 2min. or until light and fluffy. Reduce speed to low; beat in realmayonnaise until blended. Add flour mixture in 4 additions alternatelywith milk, beginning and ending with flour. (Batter will be thick.) Stirin apples, raisins and walnuts. Turn into prepared pan. Bake in 350 degreeoven 55 to 60 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  3. Cool in pan 10 min. Remove from pan; cool completely on wire rack.

  4. Gilding the Lily: Buttermilk can be substituted for the regular milk. Theapples are especially nice when left unpeeled. I prefer golden raisins andhave also made the cake with sun-dried cherries. Pecans can be substitutedfor the walnuts.
