  1. 1 head white or savoy cabbage, weighing about 2 pounds before trimming (or use 1 bag of pre-shredded cabbage/carrot mix)

  2. 2 carrots

  3. 1 cup mayonnaise

  4. 1/4 cup buttermilk

  5. 2 tablespoons maple syrup

  6. 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

  7. Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  8. cup pecans, fairly finely chopped

  9. 1/4 cup dried cranberries

  1. Trim and shred the cabbage; you can do this either by hand or with a food processor.

  2. Peel and grate the carrots.

  3. Whisk together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, maple syrup and vinegar and coat the shredded vegetables with this dressing.

  4. Season with salt and pepper and toss with the chopped nuts and dried cranberries.

  5. Refrigerate until serving.
