  1. 1 large head Boston or Bibb lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces

  2. 2 cups fresh spinach, torn into bite-size pieces

  3. 3 large navel oranges

  4. 1 OSO Sweet or other sweet onion, peeled

  5. 3 red apples, cored and diced

  6. 1 star fruit, thinly sliced

  7. 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted

  8. 4 rounds pita bread, cut into wedges and toasted Sweet Onion-Orange Vinaigrette:

  9. 3 tablespoons reserved orange juice

  10. 1/4 cup reserved minced OSO Sweet or other sweet onion

  11. 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar

  12. 2 teaspoons dijon-style mustard

  13. 2 teaspoons honey

  14. 1/3 cup salad oil

  1. Prepare salad: In a large salad bowl, place greens. Peel oranges over a medium bowl to catch juices; cut between membranes to section. Reserve juice for vinaigrette; add sections to salad bowl. Mince 1/8 sweet onion, reserve for vinaigrette. Cut remaining onion into thin slices. Add onion, apple and star fruit to salad. Garnish with sesame seeds, if desired.

  2. Prepare vinaigrette: In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, sweet onions, vinegar, mustard and honey. Gradually whisk in oil until well-blended. Add to salad and toss well; serve with toasted pita wedges.
