  2. BREAD PUDDING MADE WITH FRENCH BREAD

  6. 8 oz Stale, dense, french bread

  7. 4 tb Butter, softened

  8. 1/2 c Dried cherries or raisins

  9. 3 Large eggs

  10. 2/3 c Plus

  11. 2 tb sugar

  12. 4 ts Vanilla extract

  13. 1/2 ts Almond extract

  14. 1 pn Salt

  15. 4 c Milk, heated

  16. 1/4 ts Cinnamon

  17. 1/2 thick. Butter

  18. 1 side of each slice.

  19. Butter 1 1/2 qt. shallow baking dish. Arrange one half the bread,

  20. buttered side up, in single layer in dish. Sprinkle with cherries or raisins. Top with another layer of bread slices. Whisk eggs, 1/2 cup sugar

  21. and vanilla and almond extracts, and salt in bowl. Whisk in hot milk. Pour

  22. custard over bread.

  23. Press bread into custard. Let stand 30 minutes.

  24. Press again. Preat oven to 350 degrees. Place baking dish in larger

  25. baking pan. Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon in bowl. Sprinkle over

  26. pudding. Pour boiling water in large pan halfway up side of dish. Bake 45

  27. to 50 minutes until golden. Serve warm with cream. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
