  1. Grated coconut - 1/2cup

  2. Green chillies - 3-4 nos (if small add 4 , else 2-3 would be enough)

  3. Ginger - 1 ( 1inch) piece

  4. (Fried) gram dal (pottukadalai)- 1 tsp

  5. Tamarind - (1pinch)

  6. Salt - (as needed)

  7. water - (as needed)

  8. To temper:

  9. Cooking oil - 2 tsp

  10. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp

  11. Urad dal - 1 tsp

  12. Red chilli - 1 no (pinched)

  13. Curry leaves - (few)

  1. Scrape the white part of coconut and grind it along with chillies , fried gram dal , ginger , salt and water to make a smooth paste.

  2. Remove and transfer to a serving bowl.

  3. In a small tadka pan, temper the above said ingredients and add to the chutney.

  4. Mix well and serve with idli,dosa!
