  1. 3 -4 lbs chuck roast

  2. 3 tablespoons fat (I used Crisco)

  3. 1 1/2 cups water

  4. 1 medium onion , sliced

  5. 2 stalks celery , chopped

  6. salt and pepper

  7. 2 cups flour

  8. 1 teaspoon oil

  9. salt

  10. 1 teaspoon sugar

  11. water

  1. Brown meat in hot fat.

  2. Season meat with salt and pepper, and add water, onions, and celery.

  3. Cook slowly on top of stove until meat is tender, about 3-4 hours.

  4. If liquid cooks away, add more water.

  5. This needs plenty of broth.

  6. Mix flour, oil, salt, sugar, and enough water sufficient to form a nice ball of dough.

  7. Roll out 1/4 inch thick; cut in squares and drop into boiling broth.

  8. Cook about 15-20 minutes.
