  1. 1 1/2-2 lbs. beef stew meat

  2. 2-3 T vegetable oil flour

  3. 32 oz beef broth

  4. 3 t salt

  5. 1 t black pepper

  6. 1 large onion, diced

  7. 2 cloves garlic, minced

  8. 3 t dill weed

  9. 1 t allspice

  10. 1/3 C red wine vinegar

  11. 2 15 oz cans sliced beets plus their liquid

  12. 3 medium potatoes peeled and cut into 1 inch chunks 1 small head cabbage, sliced sour

  1. Heat Dutch oven over medium heat. Flour meat and brown in oil. Add the rest of the ingredients except beets, potatoes, cabbage and sour cream. Cover and simmer until beef is tender, about 1 1/2-2 hours. Add beets, potatoes and cabbage. Cook until potatoes are tender. Serve in big bowls with a dollop of sour cream on top and crunchy French bread on the side.
