  1. 2 1/2 cups 592ml Coarsely-shredded raw potato

  2. 1 cup 62g / 2 1/5oz Onion - grated (small)

  3. 1 teaspoon 5ml Salt

  4. 1/3 cup 20g / 0.7oz Flour - (to 1/2)

  5. 1 Freshly-ground black pepper

  6. 1 Egg - (to 2)

  7. 2 tablespoons 30ml Salad oil Applesauce - for serving

  1. Recipe Instructions Thirty minutes before serving, mix potatoes, onion, salt, flour, pepper and egg in a medium bowl. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat until a drop of water bounces on the surface. Place 2 tablespoons oil in the skillet. Make pancake shapes from potato mixture. Fry, turning once, until both sides are crisp and golden, about 5 minutes on each side. Drain thoroughly on paper towels. Place on a warm platter and serve with hot or cold applesauce.
