  5. 1 2/3 c All-purpose flour

  6. 2/3 c Cocoa

  7. 1 ts Baking soda

  8. 1/2 ts Salt

  9. 1 c Crisco shortening

  10. 3/4 c Lightly-packed brown sugar

  11. 1/2 c Granulated sugar

  12. 1 Egg

  13. 2 tb Water or milk

  14. 2 ts Pure vanilla

  15. 2 c White chocolate chips

  16. 1 1/2 c Coarsely chopped nuts

  17. (pecans, walnuts, almonds or hazelnuts)

  18. 1. Preheat oven to 375F (190C).

  19. 2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Mix well.

  20. 3. Cream shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla in

  21. large bowl on medium speed of electric mixer until light

  22. and creamy.

  23. 4. Add dry ingredients on low speed, mixing just until

  24. blended. 5. Stir in white chocolate chips and nuts.

  25. 6. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet,

  26. leaving room between cookies for spreading.

  27. 7. Bake at 375F (190C) for 7-9 minutes.

  28. 8. Cookies will still appear soft and moist when baked but

  29. firm-up on cooling.

  30. 9. Cool slightly, then remove to cooling rack. Makes:
