  1. 1 1/2 cups sugar

  2. 1/2 cup boiling water

  3. 2 teaspoons grated fresh lemon rind

  4. 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice

  5. 5 cups cold water

  6. lemon slice

  1. Stir together sugar and 1/2 cup boiling water until sugar dissolves.

  2. Stir in lemon rind, lemon juice and 5 cups cold water.

  3. Pour into a 2 quart pitcher.

  4. Chill 8 hours.

  5. Garnish with lemon slices.

  6. Serve over ice.
