  1. 1 c Shortening

  2. 2 c Brown sugar

  3. 3 c Oats

  4. 1 ts Vanilla

  5. 1 ts Baking soda

  6. 1/2 c Water

  7. 1 ts Salt

  8. 2 c White flour

  9. 30 seconds. Add sugar & beat till light & fluffy. Mix in the oats. Dissolve soda in water & set aside. Mix in the vanilla & salt. Add the flour, mixing alternately with the water. Ensure that it is well mixed. Roll out dough on a floured board to

  10. 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at
