  1. 6 tablespoons 90ml Butter

  2. 3/4 cup 148g / 5 1/5oz Sugar

  3. 3/4 cup 177ml Molasses

  4. 3 Eggs

  5. 2 1/2 cups 592ml Mashed overripe bananas

  6. 2 3/4 cups 171g / 6oz Flour

  7. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking soda

  8. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Salt

  9. 1 teaspoon 5ml Vanilla extract

  10. 1 cup 110g / 3.9oz Chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Cream together the butter and sugar in a mixer. Add to the molasses and mix until combined. Add the eggs, then mix in the bananas.

  2. Mix in the flour, baking soda, salt and extract until smooth, then fold in the chocolate chips. Place the batter in a buttered and floured 9-inch Springform mold.

  3. Bake for about 1 hour. Let the cake cool on a rack, cut it in half to form 2 layers, frost with your favorite chocolate frosting and serve.
