  1. 2 cups 474ml Lentils

  2. 2 1/2 Water

  3. 2 Onions - diced

  4. 2 tablespoons 30ml Fat

  5. 2 Carrots - diced

  6. 1 tablespoon 15ml Salt

  7. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Pepper

  8. 1 Bay leaf

  9. 4 Frankfurters - sliced

  1. Wash and drain the lentils. Combine with water; bring to a boil and cook over medium heat 1 hour.

  2. Brown the onions in the fat and add to the lentils with the carrots, salt, pepper and bay leaf. Cook over low heat 2 hours. Discard the bay leaf and rub mixture through a food mill. Return to the saucepan. Add the frankfurters and cook over low heat 10 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
