  1. 1 cup 198g / 7oz Butter

  2. 1 1/2 cups 297g / 10oz Sugar

  3. 3 Eggs - separated

  4. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz Flour - (sifted)

  5. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking powder

  6. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking soda

  7. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Salt

  8. 1 cup 237ml Sour cream

  9. 1 teaspoon 5ml Grated orange peel

  10. 1/2 cup 73g / 2.6oz Chopped walnuts

  11. 2 tablespoons 30ml Sugar

  12. 1/4 cup 59ml Orange juice

  13. 1/3 cup 78ml Amaretto

  1. Cream butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy; beat in egg yolks one at a time.

  2. Fold in beaten egg whites. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, and add to batter a little at a time, alternating with sour cream. Stir until smooth. Mix in grated orange peel and walnuts and pour into buttered 9" tube pan.

  3. Bake 50 minutes at 350F. Mix remaining sugar with orange juice and Amaretto and spoon over cake as soon as it comes out of oven. Cool before removing from pan.
