  1. 1 ea Whole vanilla bean

  2. 1/3c Brown sugar

  3. 1/4c Water

  4. 1 ts Margarine, optional

  5. 1 pn Salt, optional

  6. 4 ea Bananas

  7. 1/2sm Pineapple

  1. + Slit vanilla bean lengthwise & scrape out sticky black seeds.

  2. Place seeds & pod in small heavy bottomed pot along with remaining ingredients except fruit.

  3. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

  4. Reduce heat & simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.

  5. Stir till sugar has dissolved.

  6. Remove from heat.

  7. If glaze hardens, reheat before using.

  8. Prepare grill.

  9. Peel bananas; peel & core pineapple.

  10. Cut into bite-sized pieces.

  11. Alternate bananas & pineapple on skewers.

  12. Place skewers on hot grill & cook 5 to 10 minutes, turning once.

  13. When hot, baste with glaze, two or three times.

  14. Turn & baste again.
