  1. 1 lb lean ground beef

  2. 1 cup onion , chopped

  3. 6 cups water

  4. 1 cup potato , peeled chopped

  5. 1 cup tomato , chopped

  6. 1 cup cabbage , shredded

  7. 1 cup carrot , chopped

  8. 1/2 cup celery , chopped

  9. 1/4 cup long grain rice , uncooked

  10. 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

  11. 1 bay leaf

  12. 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  13. 5 teaspoons parmesan cheese , grated

  1. In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. Add the water, potatoes, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, celery, rice, thyme, bay leaf and cover and simmer for 1 hour.

  2. Discard bay leaf. Sprinkle each serving with 1/2 teaspoon of parmesan. ?
