  1. 2 tablespoons 30ml Vegetable oil

  2. 2/3 cup 41g / 1.4oz Finely chopped onions

  3. 4 teaspoons 20ml Minced garlic

  4. 1 1/2 tablespoons 22ml Finely chopped fresh - ginger

  5. 2 Hot green chiles - seeded Chopped

  6. 1 lb 454g / 16oz Lean ground beef or lamb

  7. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Turmeric - salt to taste

  8. 12 cups 2844ml Boiling water

  9. 2 teaspoons 10ml Garam masala

  10. 2 teaspoons 10ml Lemon juice

  11. 2 tablespoons 30ml Chopped coriander or - parsley

  1. Recipe Instructions Heat the oil in a skillet and add the onions. Cook, stirring, about 10 minutes, or until onions are browned. Add the garlic, ginger, and chiles and cook 2 minutes longer. Add the ground meat and cook, stirring and chopping the spatula to break up any lumps. Cook until the meat begins to brown. Sprinkle with turmeric and salt and stir. Add the water, cover, and cook over low heat about 25 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking. When ready, all liquid should be absorbed. If it is not, uncover and cook until it is evaporated. Stir in the garam masala, lemon juice, and coriander. Serves 4.
