  1. 1 c. chopped onion

  2. 1 can mixed vegetables

  3. 1/3 c. melted butter

  4. 1/2 c. flour

  5. 2 c. chicken broth

  6. 1 c. half and half

  7. 1 tsp. salt

  8. 1/4 tsp. pepper

  9. 4 c. chopped chicken

  10. Basic pastry

  1. Saute onion and mixed vegetables in butter for 10 minutes. Add flour to sauteed mixture, stirring well. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Combine broth and half and half. Gradually stir in broth mixture; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Add chicken, stirring well. Pour chicken mixture into a shallow 2 quart casserole. Top with pastry. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes and until golden brown.

  2. Pastry: Use 1 to 1 1/2 cups Bisquick, add enough milk to make a medium flour mixture. Pour on top of chicken mixture, spreading as needed to cover entire casserole.
