  1. 1 lb 454g / 16oz Fresh asparagus - trimmed

  2. 1 1/2 cups 355ml Sour cream - (12 oz), divided

  3. 1 packet Cream cheese - softened

  4. 1 Unflavored gelatin

  5. 1 cup 146g / 5.1oz Finely chopped cooked ham

  6. 1 tablespoon 15ml Chopped chives

  7. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Seasoned salt

  8. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Black pepper

  9. Assorted crackers - for accompaniment

  1. Cook asparagus in a small amount of water until tender. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup liquid. Cool. Puree asparagus until smooth. Add 1 cup sour cream and the cream cheese; blend well.

  2. In a saucepan, combine gelatin and reserved liquid; heat slowly until the gelatin is dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in the asparagus mixture, ham, chives, salt and pepper. Pour into a greased 1-quart round-bottom bowl.

  3. Cover and chill until set, about 6 hours. Unmold onto a plate and spread with reserved sour cream. Garnish with additional chopped ham and cooked asparagus, if desired. Serve with crackers.
