  1. 1 cup rice

  2. 1 cup methi leaves, finaly chopped

  3. 1/2 cup coconut, grated

  4. 1/3 rd cup spring onion, finaly chopped

  5. 5-6 tamarind pieces

  6. 7 red dry chillies

  7. 1/2 tsp methi seeds

  8. 1 tsp jeera

  9. 1 tsp urad dal

  10. 1 tsp gram dal

  11. 1 pinch asafoetida

  12. 1 tsp mustard seeds

  13. 1 tbsp oil

  14. Salt to taste

  1. Boil the rice so that it is cooked and the grains are separate.

  2. Dry roast red chillies, jeera, grated coconut and methi seeds and powder them.

  3. Heat oil, add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds splutter, add asafoetida, urad dal, gram dal, chopped spring onion and methi leaves. Fry for 2 minutes.

  4. Add powdered masala and mix well.

  5. Add salt and cooked rice and mix well.

  6. Ready to serve.
