  1. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  2. 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

  3. 2 tablespoons baking powder

  4. 1 teaspoon salt

  5. 2 tablespoons butter or lard

  6. 1 cup mashed potatoes

  7. 1 cup milk

  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F (205°C) . In large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add butter, cutting in with a pastry blender. Stir in mashed potatoes. Add milk and stir with a fork to form a ball. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead about 10 times. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Pat down to 1-inch thick. Bake about 20 minutes or until well browned.
