  2. CRAN-APPLE STREUSEL BREAD

  6. 1 lb Loaf frozen bread dough, or -1 loaf homemade Wt

  7. 1 cn Cinnamon apple pie filling

  8. -(21 oz) 1 c Cranberries, fresh or -frozen, whole

  9. 1 tb Orange juice

  10. 1 tb Grated orange

  11. -peel (zest)colored part only

  12. 1 t Lemon juice

  13. 1 t Apple pie spice

  14. Streusel Topping

  15. 1/4 c Milk (approx)

  16. 3/4 c Walnuts, chopped, divided

  17. -use

  18. Glaze, optional

  19. 1/4 c Flour, all purpose

  20. 1/4 c Sugar

  21. 2 tb Brown sugar

  22. 1/2 ts Cinnamon, ground

  23. 1/4 c Butter, softened

  24. This recipe is shaped like a wreath or individual loaves for gift giving.

  25. Cranberries, fresh fruit, nuts and spices combine bright color and a

  26. refreshing flavor for a holiday favorite. A nutty streusel topping and a

  27. sweet hint of glaze complete the picture.

  28. Preliminaries; Thaw frozen bread dough until pliable according to package

  29. directions. Fifteen minutes prior to baking, preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  30. In a large bowl, mix apple pie filling with cranberries, orange juice,

  31. orange peel, lemon juice and apple pie spice. Set aside. Prepare Streusel

  32. topping (recipe follows). Cut loaf into 3 even pieces. On a lightly

  33. floured work surface roll out each piece of dough into a 8 by 7 inch

  34. rectangle. Cut the dough with kitchen shears to obtain the correct

  35. measurement if needed. Place on baking sheet.

  36. 2 inch long cuts at

  37. 1 inch intervals on both of the

  38. 7 inch sides of

  39. dough rectangle. Spread 1 cup of cran-apple mixture lengthwise down center

  40. third of dough. Top filling with 1/4 cup walnuts. Fold strips diagonally

  41. over filling, overlapping strips to give a braided look. Brush dough strips

  42. 1/4 cup streusel mix. Repeat with remaining

  43. 2 pieces

  44. 30 minutes in warm place. bake in preheated

  45. 25 to 30 minutes, covering with aluminum foil after

  46. minutes to prevent over-browning. Remove bread from baking sheet to cool.

  47. Bread may be drizzled with glaze, if desired (recipe follows)

  49. 1 tsp milk; stir until blended.
