  1. 1 12-oz. frozen or 2-1/4 cups fresh blueberries; divided use

  2. 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar; divided use

  3. 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  4. Pinch salt

  5. 1/2 cup whipped cream cheese

  6. 2 drops red food coloring

  7. 1 drop yellow food coloring

  8. 1 10 3/4-oz. loaf frozen pound cake; thawed

  9. 2 teaspoons confectioners sugar

  10. 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  11. 1/2 cup water

  12. bat-shaped cookie cutter

  13. half moon-shaped cookie cutter

  1. Sauce: In a medium saucepan, bring 1/2 cup water to a boil. Add 2 cups of the blueberries; return to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes.

  2. In a cup, mixtogether 1/3 cup of the sugar, the cornstarch and salt. Add to cooked blueberries, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens, about 1 minute.

  3. Pour into a bowl, cover and chill for 2 hours Filling: In a separate bowl, mix together cream cheese, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 drop red to every 2 drops yellow food coloring to make orange-colored cream cheese. Set aside.

  4. Cut a thin layer off the top and bottom of the pound cake. Cut the pound cake into 4 (1/2-thick) horizontal slices.

  5. Working with 1 slice at a time, use a 4-inch bat-shaped cookie cutter to cut out 2 bats. From the same slice, use a 1/2-inch half moon-shaped cutter, to cut out 4 half moons.

  6. Spread half of the shapes each with cream cheese mixture and the rest of the blueberries. Top with other half to form sandwiches.

  7. Mix together confectioners sugar and cocoa and sprinkle over sandwiches.

  8. Spread blueberry sauce to form a 'sky background' on the plates. Arrange 1 bat and 2 moons on each plate, serve immediately.
