  1. 6 oz Mozzarella cheese

  2. 1/2 ts Dried oregano

  3. 2 ts Green peppercorns, crushed

  4. 1/2 ts Dry mustard

  5. Salt to taste

  6. 1/2 ts Sugar

  7. 2 tb Lemon juice

  8. 1/3 c Olive oil

  9. sliced 2 Shallots, peeled, thinly

  10. 1 Ripe avacado

  11. half 2 lg Beefsteak tomatoes, cut in

  12. Crusty bread or bread sticks

  1. Thinly slice cheese and tomato and arrange on 4 small plates.

  2. Cut avacado in thin slices and arrange with cheese and tomato.

  3. Separate shallots in rings and scatter over salad.

  4. In a screw-tipped jar, combine olive oil, lemon juice, sugar, salt, peppercorns and oregano.

  5. Shake vigorously until well blended.

  6. Spoon over salad and let marinate 1 hour.

  7. Garnish with basil, if desired, and serve with warm crusty bread or bread sticks.
