  1. Cat Head biscuits (as big as a cat's head)

  2. 2 cups of flour

  3. 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda

  4. 2 teaspoons of baking powder

  5. 1 teaspoon of salt

  6. 5 tablespoons of lard or shortening

  7. About 1 cup of buttermilk

  8. Sift the dry ingredients together and cut in the lard or shorteningAdd enough buttermilk to make a soft dough.

  9. Pinch off about a lemon sized ball of dough for each biscuit and pat out with your hands.

  10. 12 - 15 minutes at

  11. 450 degrees or until the tops are golden brown.

  12. Remove the biscuits form the oven and put butter on the tops of the hot biscuits to coat.

  2. Often times the cooks would take treats like this out to the field with big jugs of iced tea and kegs of water for the hard workers in the fields about mid afternoon.

  3. Some cooks would get sort of silly and make them in a cats head shape.
