  1. 1/2 c Butter or margarine

  2. 1/4 ts Salt

  3. 1/2 ts Baking powder

  4. 1/3 c Unsweetened cocoa powder

  5. 2 c All-purpose flour

  6. 2 ts Vanilla

  7. 2 Eggs

  8. 3/4 c Brown sugar; (packed)

  9. 3/4 c Sugar

  10. 1 tb Instant coffee crystals

  11. 1/2 c Semisweet chocolate pieces

  12. 1 c Semisweet chocolate pieces

  1. In a large saucepan melt margarine or butter and the 1/2 cup chocolate pieces over low heat.

  2. Remove from heat.

  3. Stir in coffee crystals; cool 5 minutes.

  4. Stir in sugars, eggs and vanilla.

  5. In a medium mixing bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  6. Stir into coffee mixture.

  7. Stir in the 1 cup chocolate pieces.

  8. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.

  9. Bake in a 350 degree oven 10 minutes.

  10. Let cool 1 minute before removing from sheet.
