  1. 1/2 cup shortening (vegetable shorting is optional)

  2. 1/2 cup butter

  3. 2 eggs

  4. 2 1/2 cups flour

  5. 1 cup packed dark brown sugar

  6. 1/2 cup sugar

  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I usually dump just a little more in)

  8. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  9. 2 cups chocolate chips (substitute any kind of chip/chunk for variation)

  1. Preheat oven to 375.

  2. Use a medium speed on the mixer to beat the shortening and the butter together till almost smooth.

  3. Add 1/2 the flour, the dark brown sugar, sugar, eggs, vanilla, baking soda.

  4. Beat till combined well.

  5. Beat in the remaining flour.

  6. Stir in chocolate chips (or other option).

  7. Drop onto cookie sheet in tablespoon size drops, about 2-3 inches apart.

  8. (It also works to roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and space at 2-1/2 inches).

  9. Bake@ 375 for 8-10 minutes or until edges are light brown.

  10. Cool on rack& enjoy.

  11. Extremely good while warm.

  12. Especially delicious after cooled.

  13. Store in Ziploc or sealed container.
