  1. 1 3/4 cup(s) all-purpose flour

  2. 1/2 cup(s) unsweetened cocoa powder

  3. 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda

  4. 1/4 teaspoon(s) Kosher salt

  5. 1 cup(s) (2 sticks) butter , softened to room temperature 25 cup(s) sugar

  6. 3/4 cup(s) brown sugar

  7. 2 eggs

  8. 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract

  9. 1 package(s) (1.7 ounce) chocolate-flavored instant pudding mix

  10. 1/4 teaspoon(s) peppermint extract

  11. 1 1/2 cup(s) chocolate chips

  12. 3/4 cup(s) crushed candy canes

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Sift flour and cocoa with baking soda and salt into a bowl and set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugars and beat until smooth and creamy.

  4. Beat in the eggs, vanilla, pudding mix and peppermint extract; let the batter rest for 5 minutes, then beat again.

  5. Gradually add flour mixture and mix until incorporated.

  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.

  7. Using a standard ice cream scooper, scoop dough into balls, place three inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and flatten tops slightly.

  8. Bake 13-14 minutes, cool on rack.
