  1. 2 1/2 cups 156g / 5 1/2oz Sifted flour

  2. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking powder

  3. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking soda

  4. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Salt

  5. 1/2 cup 99g / 3 1/2oz Shortening

  6. 1/2 cup 99g / 3 1/2oz Sugar

  7. 3/4 cup 177ml Honey

  8. 1 Egg - separated

  9. 2 oz 56g Chocolate - melted

  10. 1/4 cup 59ml Water

  11. 1/2 cup 118ml Sour milk

  12. 1 teaspoon 5ml Vanilla

  1. Recipe Instructions Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together. Cream shortening with sugar and honey until fluffy. Add 1/2 cup dry ingredients and blend. Add beaten yolk and chocolate; beat thoroughly. Add dry ingredients and liquids alternately in small amounts, blending after each addition. Fold in stiffly beaten egg white. Bake in greased pan in moderate oven 350F for 40 to 50 minutes.
