    5. 1/2 c Shortening

    6. 1/2 c Granulated sugar

    7. 1/2 c Brown sugar

    8. 1/2 ts Vanilla

    9. 1 Egg

    10. 1 c Flour

    11. 1/2 ts Salt

    12. 1/2 ts Soda

    13. 1 c Rolled oats; quick cooking

    14. 6 oz Chocolate chips

    15. For a different treat, use butterscotch chips.

    16. Mix all well. Drop by teaspoons on greased sheet 2 inches apart. Bake

    17. 10-12 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan. --
