  1. 2 lbs chuck roast , cut in

  2. 1 in cubes

  3. 2 T butter

  4. 2 onions , cut in wedges

  5. 2 T flour

  6. 1/4 t salt

  7. 2 C water

  8. 2 T apple juice

  9. 2 bay leaves

  10. 2 whole allspice

  11. 2 whole cloves

  12. 2 med carrots sliced

  13. 2 med apples , peeled and cut in chunks

  1. brown beef in butter add onions, cook till soft sprinkle with flour and salt gadually add water and apple juice bring to boil, stir for about 2 min put spices in 2 thickness of cheesecloth , tie with string to form a bag. add to pan. cover reduce heat. simmer slowly for about 1 1/2 hrs till met is almost done.

  2. add carots and apples. cover simmer again till veggies are done...30- 40 mi thicken if needed
