  1. 1/2 cup butter

  2. 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  3. 1 cup milk -- scalded

  4. 3/4 teaspoon salt

  5. 3 eggs -- well beaten

  6. 1 cup boiled water (not boiling!)

  7. 1 cake yeast

  8. 2 Tablespoons sugar

  9. 4 cups flour CRUMB TOPPING

  10. 1 cup butter

  11. 1 cup sugar

  12. 2 cups flour

  1. Preparation : Combine butter, granulated sugar, scalded milk, salt, and eggs. In a separate bowl mix boiled water, yeast and sugar. Add and mix flour. Add and mix well the butter mixture. Let rise until doubled in bulk. Add enough flour to make a very soft dough. Put in cake pans (about 4) and let rise. CRUMB TOPPING Cream butter and sugar. Add flour. Work until crumbly. Pat topping onto dough, gently. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, or until tests done.
