  9. 24 Oysters,freshly shucked

  10. Salt

  11. Pepper

  12. Cornmeal

  13. Cracker crumbs

  14. Vegetable shortening

  15. 1. Pour milk over oysters; soak 10 minutes.

  16. 2. Roll oysters in seasoned cornmeal or cracker crumbs.

  17. 3. Heat shortening; fry oysters quickly in very hot shortening until

  18. brown.
