  5. 1 tb Onion, minced

  6. 1 Clove garlic, crushed

  7. 2 tb Bacon drippings or lard

  8. 2 c Beef stock

  9. 1/4 ts Cumin, ground

  10. 1/4 c Jack cheese, grated

  11. 4 c Crisp tostadas

  12. 3 Whole,dried,crushed chiles>>

  13. Anaheim or other mild chile.

  14. Saute the onion and garlic in the bacon drippings or lard in a med. sized saucepan. Add the stock,

  15. chiles, and cumin and simmer until the chiles are

  16. tender, abt. 30 min. Ladle soup into bowls or mugs

  17. and top each bowl with some of the grated cheese.

  18. Divide half of the tostados evenly among the

  19. servings. Heat the bowls under the broiler for abt. 5

  20. min. to melt cheese. Sprinkle a few more tostados on

  21. each. Serve remaining tostados separately in bowl. --
