  1. Beef Brisket In Beer

  2. 4 pounds beef brisket

  3. 2 onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings

  4. 1 bay leaf

  5. 1 cup beer

  6. 1/4 cup chili sauce

  7. 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  8. 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed

  9. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  10. 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  11. 1 clove garlic, minced

  12. 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  13. 2 tablespoons water

  14. Trim fat from brisket. If necessary, cut brisket to fit into cooker.

  15. In crockery cooker, place onions, bay leaf, and brisket. Combine

  16. beer, chili sauce, sugar, thyme, salt, pepper, and garlic; pour

  17. 10 to 12 hours or on

  18. 5 to 6 hours.

  19. Transfer meat to platter and keep warm. Discard bay leaf. Skim

  20. fat from cooking juices. Measure 2 1/2 cup juices and place in a

  21. saucepan. Combine cornstarch and water; add to saucepan. Cook

  22. and stir till thick and bubbly. Cook for 2 min. more. Pass with

  23. meat.
