  1. 3/4 cup water

  2. 2 tablespoons cider vinegar

  3. 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

  4. 2 tablespoons honey

  5. 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

  6. 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

  7. 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

  8. 1 -1 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  9. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

  10. 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

  11. 1/2 small onion , minced

  12. 1 1/2 cups fruit preserves (such as raspberry, peach, apricot, cherry or your favorite)

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, stir together water and the next 10 ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, until onion bits are very soft, about 5 minutes. Add preserves and simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes. Mixture may appear a little thin, but will thicken.

  2. Cool to room temperature then refrigerate until ready for use. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks.

  3. Apply as you would barbecue sauce in the last few minutes on the grill.
