  1. 1 cup Karo pancake syrup

  2. 1 cup sugar

  3. 1/2 cup water

  4. 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

  5. 1 1/2 cups salted peanuts

  6. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  1. Preparation : Grease large baking sheet. In a 3-quart saucepan stir first 4 ingredients. Stir constantly over medium heat until sugar dissolves and mixture boils. Cook without stirring until temperature reaches 280 degrees (soft crack). Gradually stir in nuts; cook and stir until temperature reaches 300 degrees (hard crack). Remove; stir in soda. Spread quickly on baking sheet. Cool. Makes 1 1/2 pounds.
