  1. 1 3 lb boneless chuck or similar beef roast

  2. 27 oz can sauerkraut drained

  3. 1 lb brown sugar

  4. 28 oz can whole tomatoes undrained

  5. 1 large onion chopped

  6. 1 apple , peeled cored and sliced

  7. salt and pepper to taste

  1. Place meat in a Dutch oven.

  2. Top with the sauerkraut, tomatoes, sugar, apple, onion and salt and pepper.

  3. Cover and simmer several hours until meat is very fork tender.

  4. Correct seasonings if need be.

  5. Probably may be also made in a slow cooker
