  1. 4 slices bacon

  2. 2 3-ounce packages ramen noodles, unbroken (discard flavor packets)

  3. 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, if necessary

  4. 1 cup water plus additional, if necessary

  5. 2 slices mild cheddar or American cheese

  6. 2 large eggs

  1. Cook bacon in a 10-inch cast iron skillet or 12-inch heavy skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain. Pour off and reserve all but 1 tablespoon bacon fat.
