  1. 1 lb fresh strawberries , sliced

  2. 3 -4 cups all-purpose flour

  3. 1/4 cup sugar

  4. 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

  5. 1/4 cup warm water

  6. 1 teaspoon salt

  7. 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  9. 1/4 cup heavy cream

  1. Put sliced strawberries in a bowl, and pour sugar over them. Leave to sit about 10 minutes.

  2. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water.

  3. In a bowl, combine 3 cups of the flour, salt, baking soda, vanilla, cream, and strawberries, and yeast mixture. Knead to make a soft dough, adding more flour if needed.

  4. Place in a greased bowl, and let rise until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.

  5. Punch down and put in a greased loaf pan, and allow to rise again for 1 hour.

  6. bake at 350F for about 45 minutes, or until the top is browned.

  7. Cooking time includes rising.
