  1. Dough:

  2. 2 cups warm water(110 to 115 degrees)

  3. 2 packages active dry yeast

  4. 1/2 cup sugar

  5. 1 1/2 tsp. salt

  6. 1 large egg

  7. 1/2 cup melted margarine

  8. 6 1/2 cups all purpose flour

  9. Filling:

  10. 680 g ground beef

  11. 560 g can sauerkraut, drained

  12. 1 small onion, peeled and thinly sliced

  13. 1 slice cheddar or swiss cheese

  1. For Dough:

  2. Stir together water and yeast. Let stand 5 minutes until foamy. Mix together sugar, salt, egg, margarine and flour in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours.

  3. For Filling:

  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine beef and onion in a large skillet. Cook until beef is browned. Drain grease. Stir in sauerkraut. Cool. Roll out dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 6x6 inch squares. Place 1 slice cheese on each dough square. Top with beef mixture. Fold and seal dough over filling. Bake 30 minutes until golden brown.
