  1. 2 tablespoons oil

  2. 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  3. 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

  4. 2 teaspoons finely grated ginger

  5. 2 fresh green chillies, seeded, chopped

  6. 500g beef mince

  7. teaspoon ground turmeric

  8. 2 teaspoons garam masala

  9. 2 teaspoons lemon juice

  10. 2 tablespoons chopped coriander

  11. steamed rice, lemon wedges, to serve

  1. Heat oil in a large frying pan on medium. Add onion and cook for 3 minutes, stirring, until soft and golden. Add garlic, ginger and chilli and cook for 2 minutes, until fragrant. Add mince and cook for 5 minutes, breaking up lumps with a spoon, until no longer pink. Stir in turmeric and 1/3 cup hot water.

  2. Reduce heat to low. Cover, cook for 5 minutes. Stir through garam masala, lemon juice and coriander. Serve with rice and lemon wedges.
