  1. 500 gms paya

  2. Water

  3. 1tbsp turmeric powder

  4. 2tbsp turmeric powder

  5. 2tbsp oil

  6. 5 cardamoms

  7. 4 cinnamons

  8. 10 black pepper pods

  9. 1tsp fennel seeds

  10. 2 cloves

  11. 10 red chilies (dry)

  12. 1 1/2 onions (roughly cut)

  13. 2tbsp coconut (dry shredded)

  14. 1tbsp coriander powder

  15. tsp ginger paste

  16. tsp garlic paste

  17. 1tsp lemon juice

  18. Salt as per taste

  1. First clean the paya very well

  2. Take a heavy bottom pressure cooker (7.5 liter pressure cooker)

  3. Put the paya into the pressure cooker

  4. Now pour water to cover the paya

  5. Put turmeric powder

  6. Now close the lid of the pressure cooker and boil the paya till 5 whistles

  7. Heating up 2tbsp oil in a wok

  8. Put cardamoms, cinnamon, black pepper pods, fennel seeds, cloves and dried red chilies

  9. Fry them all for few minutes

  10. Now put the roughly chopped onions and shredded coconuts

  11. Add coriander powder and ginger and garlic paste

  12. Fry them altogether

  13. When the onions become transparent remove the masala and put them into a grinder

  14. Add ¼ cup of water and blend them to make a smooth paste

  15. Now add this paste to the cooked paya

  16. Add salt as per taste and stir all the ingredients well to mix

  17. Now cover the lid of the pressure cooker

  18. Cook the min high flame will 5-6 whistles

  19. Now open the lid of the pressure cooker and cook it for another few minutes in low flame

  20. Now add lemon juice

  21. Amazing paya soup is ready to be served with idli or dosa
