  1. 2 cups cubed ham (about 3/4 pound)

  2. 2 cups purchased salsa

  3. 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained

  4. 1 (14 1/2-ounce) can vegetable broth

  5. 1 tablespoon lime juice or lemon juice

  6. 1 minced garlic clove

  7. 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

  8. 1/4 teaspoon chopped chipotle chile (smoked jalapeno)

  9. 3 tablespoons dry sherry

  1. In a large saucepan combine the ham, salsa, beans, vegetable broth, lime juice, garlic, coriander and chipotle. Bring to a simmer; ower heat and cook, covered, for 20 minutes.

  2. Stir in dry sherry. To serve, ladle into soup bowls.
