  1. 2 teaspoon light olive oil

  2. 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  3. 2 teaspoons grated ginger

  4. cup tomato sauce

  5. 1 1/2 tablespoons mirin

  6. cup soy sauce

  7. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  8. 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

  9. 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

  10. 2 pork steaks

  11. 1 egg, lightly beaten

  12. 1/3 cup flour

  13. 1 1/2 cups panko* or dried breadcrumbs

  14. 2 tablespoons light olive oil, for frying

  15. To serve:

  16. finely sliced cabbage

  17. 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

  18. lemon wedges

  1. Heat olive oil in a small saucepan. Add ginger and garlic and cook until soft. Add remaining sauce ingredients and simmer for 2 minutes or until thick. Set aside to cool.

  2. Using a meat mallet, flatten steaks to about 1 ½ cm thick. Dip steaks into a flat plate filler with the flour, and then into the beaten egg and finally into the breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs well into the steaks and let sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.

  3. Heat oil in a medium sized heavy based frying pan. Cook pork for 3 minutes each side or until crisp, golden and cooked through. Serve with cabbage, sprinkled with sesame seeds and the sauce.

  4. *Panko are Japanese breadcrumbs, and are available from specialty Asian shops.
