  1. chicken( One 3 lb. cut into pieces)

  2. 1 lb fresh spinach

  3. 2 onions( medium sliced thinly)

  4. 5 (tablespoons cooking oil, or 200 g (7 oz)) butter

  5. 2 bay leaves(large)

  6. 4 cardamom(cloves black or green )

  7. 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

  8. cup water

  9. 4 cloves garlic chopped finely

  10. 1 teaspoon chilli powder

  11. 1 teaspoon cumin powder

  12. 2 teaspoons coriander powder

  13. l 1/2 teaspoons turmeric

  14. (2 teaspoons sweet paprika)

  15. salt to taste

  1. Heat the oil or butter in a saucepan and fry the onions, bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves for 2/3mins.

  2. Until golden brown. Now add the garlic, ginger and fry one minute more before adding the water, and stirring in the chilli, cumin, coriander, paprika and turmeric.

  3. Then add the chicken pieces and fry for a further 2/3 minutes.

  4. Add the spinach and cook on a low heat for a further 15/20 minutes stirring occasionally, add salt to taste
