  1. 3/4 cup oats, uncooked

  2. 1 cup firmly packed Brown sugar

  3. 1/2 cup Granulated sugar

  4. 1 Egg

  5. 1/4 cup Water

  6. 1 tsp. Vanilla

  7. 1 cup sifted Flour

  8. 1 tsp. Salt

  9. 1/2 tsp. Baking soda

  1. Preheat oven to 350°

  2. Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla together until creamy.

  3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Then add to creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in oats.

  4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes.
