  1. 1cup Rice

  2. Kauwa pieces or chicken pieces (500 gms)

  3. 2 cups Yogurt

  4. 1tbs ginger

  5. 1tsp Garlic

  6. 2 large onions Onions

  7. 3-4 Green chilies

  8. Almonds /cashews

  9. 1/4 cup of full cream milk

  10. Saffron strands

  11. Oil for frying

  12. Vegetables of your choice

  13. Spices:

  14. 3 tsp Salt

  15. 2 tsp Red chili powder

  16. 1 tsp Turmeric powder

  17. 1 tsp Cumin powder

  18. 1/2 tsp Mace

  19. Nut Meg

  20. 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder

  21. 2 pieces Bay leaves

  22. 1 Green and black cardamom

  23. 3-4 pieces Cloves

  24. 2pieces of cinnamon

  1. Take 2 cups of yogurt .make it smooths.

  2. Add salt (3 tsp),red chili powder(2 tsp),turmeric powder(1 tsp),cumin powder(1 tsp),mace(1/2 tsp),black pepper(1/2 tsp).mix altogether.

  3. Put chicken pieces in the mixture.

  4. Mixing everything altogether.

  5. Fridge the chicken pieces about an hour.

  6. Other side:

  7. Shallow fry onions in frying pan.(2 large onions)

  8. Fry until the onions turn golden brown.

  9. Next step is getting the rice ready .

  10. cup of rice with2 cups of cold water.

  11. Add saffron in cream milk.

  12. When the water start boiling add rice and few drops of oil, salt (3 tsp),bay leaves(2 pieces),2pieces of cinnamon, some green cardamom,1 big black cardamom ,3-4 pieces of cloves ,stir the rice until it prepare.

  13. In other pan add butter or ghee.

  14. Add cumin seeds, green chilies (3-4), 1tbs garlic ,1tbs ginger, chopped nuts and mix them for few minutes.

  15. Now add the chicken preparation in the mixture. Cook chicken for 10 minutes.

  16. Add fried onions, chopped vegetables like carrot, potatoes, beans ,cauliflower etc.

  17. Mix well.

  18. And give chicken cook another 10 minutes.

  19. Put chicken at the bottom of big pan.

  20. Put a layer of rice, again put chicken and the rest of the rice.

  21. Add saffron milk in the rice and fry- onions on the top.

  22. Have a shallow pan with hot water.

  23. Now place the biriyani pot in it.

  24. Cover the lid.

  25. Slowly cook around 15-20 minutes.

  26. Chicken or kauwa biryani is ready.

  27. Enjoy biryani with raita or salads.
