  5. 1 1/2 pounds tomatoes -- peeled and chopped

  1. Heat olive oil over low flame and saut=82 garlic for 1 minute. Add tomatoes. Increase flame to medium for 15 minutes. Continually stir and crush tomatoes in olive oil. Add basil and salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 1 minute more. Add additional seasonings of your choice (such as oregano).
