  1. 2 tablespoons butter

  2. 1 small chopped onion

  3. 1 garlic clove , minced

  4. 2 tablespoons flour

  5. 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can chicken broth

  6. 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

  7. 1 pinch oregano

  8. 2 (4 1/2 ounce) cans chopped green chilies (undrained)

  1. In saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

  2. Saute onion and garlic until transparent.

  3. Stir in flour until well-mixed and golden brown.

  4. Slowly stir in broth and remove lumps.

  5. Add chiles, cumin, and oregano and stir well.

  6. Reduce heat to simmer; cook, uncovered, about 15 minutes.

  7. Serve over burritos or your favorite Tex-Mex food.
